Scotland Yard has asked the Independent Office for Police Conduct to investigate after admitting video footage “looks concerning”.
A police officer has been suspended after footage emerged of an officer appearing to kneel on a man’s neck.
A second officer has been placed on restrictive duties after the incident in which a black man was arrested in Islington, north London. He was taken to a police station and seen by a police doctor.
The Metropolitan Police said he had since been charged with possession of a knife in a public place.
The force said it had referred the incident to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) after admitting the video “looks very concerning”.
